Benefits of Interior Switches
Why would you want to install RV electric waste valve interior switches in the first place? Well, there are a few reasons why doing so can be beneficial:
You can dump your RV holding tanks whenever you need to. Normally, inclement weather such as heavy rain or snow would prevent you from doing so, but an interior switch allows you to empty your tanks when necessary. This is a Great Video from David Bott, Outside Our Bubble, showing how it works!
You can keep your gray water tank closed. This helps you avoid problems such as odors from the sewer system seeping into your RV and Rodents being attracted to your open tank.
Safety
The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) allows for just one situation in which interior switches are permitted: when they are tied to the ignition. This is for safety reasons, since it keeps the switch from operating while the engine is running.
Installation & Master Switch
Drain Master offers easy installation of valves and switches, especially when you pair our Pro Series valves with our Master Switch. The Master Switch safeguards against unsafe and accidental dumping by disabling switches on valves. This way, if your children start pressing buttons inside the RV, they won’t trigger any unwanted dumping of waste. The Master Switch is ordered separately from the Pro-Series Valves, which come in kits for one to four tanks.
So, where should you install your interior switches? Here are a few ideas.
We suggest one in the bathroom for convenience when showering – if the shower pan begins to fill, you can simply reach out and push a button to open the RV dump valve. But one of our customers had a great idea. Why open the shower door to reach the switch?
And customers with a washer/dryer in their RV will often install a gray water switch right by the washer so they can open it before running a load. Very convenient.
We may be the RV waste specialists but we have to say, some of the best ideas come from our customers.
